The battle by the GOP to get a health care bill to pass in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has been a real struggle. A bill, which only 17% of Americans had favored, has been changed somewhat to allow states to decide if they want to support those with pre-existing conditions. While the bill, in its new form, seems even worse to many Americans from a coverage standpoint, early indications point to it passing in the House later this afternoon.
The bill, in its new form, would hurt the elderly, lower income families, pregnant women and those looking for help in fighting addiction the most, while pretty much benefiting anyone who doesn’t want insurance or doesn’t really need it, as well as those wealthier Americans.
We’ve decided to write a little rhyme about today’s vote:
